White Lake

White Lake Township’s approximately 32,000 residents enjoy plenty of elbow room. Its open spaces and parks comprise nearly 30 percent of the township’s 37 square miles and include over 6,000 acres of parks, 21 lakes, and numerous farms and forests.

Highland State Recreation Area, Pontiac Lake Recreation Area, and Indian Springs Metropark provide year-round outdoor adventures. A connector path along the north side of M-59 links users to the area’s all-season non-motorized trail system. Privately-owned golf courses and Alpine Valley Ski Area add quality leisure opportunities.

Oakland County International Airport, located at our eastern border, ranks as the world’s twelfth busiest general aviation airport. The airport serves more than 150 corporations. Hundreds of new housing units ranging from lake homes, rural estates, apartments and condominiums, welcomes singles, families, and empty nesters to the active township.

In 2019, the new $8.6 million White Lake Township Library opened its doors. The plans for a new Civic Center continue and are progressing. Plans include a new town hall, and a public safety building to house the police station and Fire Station #1. Clean-up and development of the recently acquired 57 acres Stanley Park is underway. The community vision for this project is to add trail activities, a pavilion, picnic areas, beach access, and a variety of other amenities.
