The township is home to more than 150 restaurants and eateries, two hotels, five banquet and event facilities, Cherry Creek Golf Club, the Packard Proving Grounds Historic Site and hundreds of unique small businesses.

Shelby Township provides an escape for nature lovers within many of its parks. Home to more than 100 species of native birds and animals, including nesting American bald eagles, and more than 80 species of trees, shrubs and wildflowers, it’s hard to not fall for the township’s beauty.

Along with its township parks and recreation facilities, Shelby Township is home to the 4,000-acre Stony Creek Metropark and its 500-acre Stony Creek Lake. Shelby Township’s trails offer residents and visitors a mix of scenic “up-north” hikes and Michigan Department of Transportation standard asphalt bike paths to meet all recreation needs.

Shelby Township is home to Utica Community Schools, Michigan’s second largest school district, and is regularly recognized nationally for academic excellence.

Student achievement levels in Utica Community Schools continue to outpace local, state and nationally levels, and the district’s graduation rate of 95.53 percent is 13 points higher than Michigan averages.
