Spring selling season is here, is your home prepared for the market? Here are four easy & budget friendly things you can do to help you secure a higher offer.

Spring Cleaning

Your child is now off to college – have you been using their bedroom as a catch-all for storage? No worries! It’s time to put in some elbow grease and clean out your cluttered spaces. Buyers have an easier time visualizing themselves in the home when it’s clean and clutter-free.

Lighten & Brighten

Wallpaper is making a comeback, but that doesn’t mean you should keep your floral border from 1998. The best way to refresh your home for the market is to remove dated wallpaper & give your walls a new coat of neutral colored paint. If you don’t have time to do all the walls, focus on the kitchen, master bedroom & living spaces. Also consider ditching heavy, dark curtains and swapping for something sheer. This will highlight natural light in your home.

Modernize

Families in 2022 use their homes in very different ways compared to just 5 years ago. Many buyers have transitioned to work-from-home positions that require a dedicated home office. Don’t have an office in your home? Consider staging one of your bedrooms like an office with simple & sleek furnishings to help buyers visualize it. Geometric rugs, colorful throw pillows and abstract art can also visually modernize your space.

Repair Damages

Beyond being aesthetically pleasing, buyers are looking for functional homes. Time to bust out the tools and fix any leaky faucets, loose railings and replace light bulbs. Filling dents in trim or cabinetry is another way to get your home back in top shape. Along with the old wallpaper, you may have some outdated light fixtures or cabinetry fixtures (brass, anyone?). Now is a great time to replace those with some inexpensive black or stainless steel fixtures to keep up with current trends.
